“What’s worth knowing? A Critical Realist case study on what constitutes “knowledge”

Michelle O’Keeffe. I am a PhD candidate Ireland.My PhD focuses on what is considered knowledge amidst secondary education reform in Ireland.I argue that neoliberal education reform, which presents knowledge as individualistic with a separatist view of humanity is epistemic violence, a remnant of a colonial Enlightenment worldview, separating the self from others and the environment, disallowing other epistemologies. CR, I argue, can decolonise this view, and emancipate accordingly.
